Although you can buy one almost anywhere, officially it does not exist. What do we mean? A respirator for children. You may have noticed that we do not list one for sale. The reason for that is that our country’s legal system does not define such a category. Nevertheless, there are respirators available that fit and conform to children’s faces well. Let’s take a deeper look.
The reason why we don’t list respirators for children.
Before COVID-19, respirators were mostly used as protective equipment in the industrial sector, so no one assumed that children might use them, too. Therefore, we don’t have any legislative norms that would define respirators for children.
But this still does not tell us which respirators are the right ones for children. A respirator for adults does not meet size or shape criteria to conform to children – and that is crucial, since the effectivity of a respirator plummets with an incorrect, loose, or too tight a seal.
